Marais Elizabeth DerManuelian, born into Heaven, Jan 2026. Taken from this world too soon.
Named after the picturesque city of Grand Marais, MN; a special place that mom and dad hold dear. A sentiment to baby girl’s first road trip and camping experience in the Boundary Waters Wilderness Canoe Area; in mom’s tummy, with dad and dog-brother Ranger in tow.
Baby girl’s favorite foods that mom had cravings for during pregnancy were: pot roast and mashed potatoes, cheeseburgers, and ice-cold juice.
Marais made some unforgettable memories in-utero during her ephemeral life: watching the Green Bay Packers play at Lambeau Field, attending Beauty and The Beast broadway musical, going to the local pumpkin patch, decorating the Christmas tree, and being introduced to Deputy K9 Cuda when dad first brought him home from work.
The day-to-day snuggles with Ranger and the cats, listening to dad sing his favorite Creed songs on repeat, and dancing in the living room with mom.
Most of all—the beautiful shores of Lake Superior in Grand Marais and the tranquility of the Boundary Waters: setting up camp with mom, dad, and Ranger, hearing the echoing loon calls, canoeing for miles, stargazing, and making s’mores by the campfire.
Marais was loved by so many. Although she didn’t get the chance to make her formal debut into the world like we had hoped, we are grateful for the time we still had with her.
To our little Marais-of-sunshine—our most precious gift, who brought so much light and joy into our lives. You will always be our May baby, forever in our hearts.
Marais is survived by parents Carla and Matthew DerManuelian, grandparents Wendi Wochos-Laverenz and Robert Laverenz, grandparents Elizabeth and Stephen DerManuelian, great-grandparents Karen and James Wochos, great-grandmother Satenik DerManuelian, great-grandmother Margaret Stock, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
