Those weekly card games, 67 years of them. Marie and my mom were the final two original members. Marie dubbed those Thursdays 'holy days' and their influence had ripple affects. I can still hear Marie's voice.. I loved her voice and wit. And she had been such a dear friend to my mom. You may not know this, but the story of those weekly cards games was once published in a book called 'Girlfriend Getaways' by Pam Grout. Pam interviewed my mom, and later included the story in her book. That weekly getaway was titled '47 Years and Counting' in Pam's book.
Sincere condolences and much love to each of you. That group, and especially your mom, made a difference. Sharing the story link, in case you want to read it, because it's really a legacy story. The group still plays, now Tuesday afternoons, and until very recently, Marie was still part of it.

I have many fond memories of Marie. She was one of the first to welcome the school children back to St. Andrew School in 1998. She was a faithful participant in the “Angel” program for many years. Her kindness was greatly appreciated and her enthusiasm for Catholic education was inspiring. Marie will be greatly missed and was a blessing to all. It was an honor to have known her. My sympathies to all her family.

Sending our thoughts and prayers to the Schraufnagel family. Marie was a wonderful woman in every way. We will miss her "trips" around the block.
