Marjorie “Jorie” Helen Lemberger Hannan, born October 6, 1947 in Milwaukee, WI, left this world on Friday, May 24, 2019 in Madison, at the age of 71 after a car accident. Jorie attended St. Pius X grade school, Divine Savior High School, and graduated from St. Norbert College with a degree in education in 1969, where she was a member of Delta Zeta. Jorie married Stephen Hannan on August 23, 1969 and was looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary later this year. Jorie started her teaching career at Maple Dale Indian Hills School in River Hills where she taught for three years. Steve and Jorie moved to Beaver Dam in 1972, where she was a member of the Jaycettes, Newcomers, Law Wives, and the Childbirth Parent Education Association. Steve and Jorie welcomed four children, Stephen Jr., Kathryn, Daniel, and Brian, at their longtime home on MacArthur Drive. Jorie was an awesome mom, greeting her children at the end of their first day of school each year with warm chocolate chip cookies, reading to them constantly, playing board games, and she became a mainstay at all of her childrens’ many sporting events and musical performances. As her children say, she probably loved them more than they deserved. Jorie spent over twenty years teaching early education at YMCA Wee Wise Preschool and treasured her time with each of her students. Upon retirement she volunteered in a second grade classroom and was the story lady in Marshfield for many years. One of Jorie’s greatest accomplishments was her seven “grand-darlings” – Julia, Eleanor, Will, Charlie, Andrew, Weston, and Evie – who all love their “Monnie” dearly. Jorie will be remembered for her love of reading, hosting fabulous summer parties, Thanksgiving feasts, “Hannan Christmas” for her extended family, and her love of correct grammar. Quite surprisingly to her four children, Jorie was the life of the party at Benjamin Court neighborhood get-togethers. She is survived by her husband Stephen Hannan; her children Stephen (Molly) Hannan, Jr. of Wauwatosa, Kate (Jim) Bennett of Marshfield, Daniel (April) Hannan of Sun Prairie, and Brian (Becky) Hannan of Rubicon; her grand-darlings Julia Bennett, Eleanor Hannan, Will Hannan, Charlie Hannan, Andrew Bennett, Weston Hannan, and Evie Bennett; her siblings Max (Victoria) Lemberger of White Bear Lake, MN, Terry (Chuck) Sexton of Greenville, SC, Cecilia Cruse of Anderson, SC, and Rob Lemberger of Albuquerque, NM; and countless relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Helen Lemberger, and her brother John Lemberger. A memorial gathering for Jorie will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019 at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. A gathering will also be held at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Parish – Mission Hall in Beaver Dam on Saturday, June 15 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Michael Erwin officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Beaver Dam Scholarship Foundation and St. Katharine Drexel Tuition Assistance Fund are appreciated. We love you more…

I remember Jorie as Katie's mom and a super one at that. I think at the time that Katie and I attended the Y WeeWise Preschool that Jorie was a room mom and helper extraordinaire, maybe that is where I got my PTO knack from. She was a friendly face and helping hand to all that met her in the community and for that we have all been touched by her presence. Katie, Danny, Brian, & Steve, you have all been in my mind and heart these last few weeks. I'm so sorry for the loss of this beautiful human and know that her light and love will continue to shine upon you in all your days to come.

Dear Steve and family, We were both very shocked to hear about the accident and Jorie's death. Healing takes time and we send our sympathy and best wishes to you all as you come to grips with this terrible loss. We saw Jorie at Culvers here in Sun Prairie not too long ago, with a couple of her grandchildren. She filled us in a little bit about her wonderful life at this stage and her delight in her beloved children and grandchildren. She had a well lived life and you were lucky to have her. We are so sorry for your loss.
