Mark A. Westenmeyer, 64, of Flint, Texas, was called to eternal life on August 16, 2019 after a fierce battle with renal cancer. A memorial service, including military honors, was held on August 23, 2019, at Boren-Conner Funeral Home in Bullard, Texas.Mark was born to John and Doris Westenemeyer on September 14, 1954, in Beaver Dam, WI. Mark married Noelia Green and together they raised two boys.Mark was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He served 21 years in the US Army and was deployed to Iraq during the first Gulf War. He retired from the Army as a Sergeant Major. Mark then took a position with the US Postal Service in Manhattan, Kansas, as a machine operator. He also served as the Secretary for the local postal union. After retiring from the Postal Service Mark and Noelia moved to Flint, Texas to be closer to their two sons and their grandchildren. In his retirement he enjoyed working on computers and relaxing in his pool! Mark was an “army” guy from the very beginning. As a child he loved to play with his army men and always talked about “driving a tank” when he grew up. He joined the US Army after graduating high school and quickly rose to the rank of Sergeant Major and accomplished his dream of becoming a tank commander! How many of us get to live our dream? Mark worked hard and accomplished his goal. Way to go! His kindness, generosity, humor, big heart, and warm spirit will be greatly missed.Survivors include his wife, Noelia, two awesome sons, Mark (Morgan) Westenmeyer, Tyler, Texas; Michael (Tracy) Westenmeyer, Brisbane, Australia; brothers John (Sharon) Westenmeyer, Beaver Dam, WI; Leon Westenmeyer, Gwinn, MI, and a sister Rose (Jim) Rechek, Fox Lake, WI. He also has four grandchildren, Joshua, Leah, Addison and Avery, who brought light to his eyes whenever he spoke of them. He was a proud Grandpa!Mark was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wayne Westenmeyer; sister-in-law Alana (Horstman) Westenmeyer.
