Mary E. Stegner, age 88, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.
The visitation will be at Annunciation Catholic Church in Fox Lake, on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Fr. Nick Dhein officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Beaver Dam.
Mary Elizabeth was born on March 19, 1936 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Clarence and Naida (Mallon) Pfeffer. She married Howard “Howie” Stegner on July 30, 1954 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. Mary received a cosmetology certificate and enjoyed being a beautician part-time, while she kept her full-time job of being a wife and mother. Mary took up golf and loved golfing at Beaver Dam Country Club. She was on a lady’s league for many years too. Mary also liked to bowl and looked forward to her morning league each week. She loved to keep busy, but most importantly, she loved being a wife, mother and grandma.
Mary is survived by her husband, Howie; children, Dean (Kristine) Stegner and Jill (Brian) Harkins, all of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Melissa Holbus, Stacy Stegner, Alek Schultz, and Chloe Harkins; great grandchildren, Dillon Holbus and Matthew Holbus, and Parker Boomsma and Sydnee Boomsma; sister, Sally Wendt (Frank Herrera); other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter in infancy, Dawn Marie Stegner; a brother, Paul Pfeffer; and a niece, Jamie Wendt.
The family would like to thank the staff in the 4 East Cardiac Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital for all the compassionate care that was given to Mary.
