Melissa S. Schaalma

Melissa S. Schaalma, loving wife and mother, went to be with her Lord on June 13, 2024.

Melissa the daughter of Ken and Ruth (Oosterwyk) Lindegarde was born on November 11, 1974 in Madison, WI. She graduated from Waterloo High School in 1992 and furthered her education in medical transcription. On November 27, 1998, she married Joel Schaalma in Juneau, WI.

For many years Melissa was a school bus driver for both Horicon and Dodgeland School Districts. She was an accomplished driver, trainer and dispatcher with a love for special charters and athletic trips.  Melissa also enjoyed working with the Special Olympics.

Melissa was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau along with being an active part of the Lowell VFW Post 9392 Sweethearts.

Melissa’s memory will go on with her husband, Joel, son Conrad (Lourdes) and daughter Gilliana, her mother Ruth, sisters Martina (John) Stanton, Penny (Craig) Seaver and brothers Charles and Shawn Lindegarde. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Melissa was preceded in death by her father Ken Lindegarde, father-in-law Alfred Schaalma and brother-in-law Jerald Schaalma, grandparents and other family members.

Visitation will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm on Friday, June 21, 2024. Pastor David Brandt and Pastor Nicolas Mount will officiate. Interment will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at church.
