Melvin C. Wille, age 83, of Horicon, died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at the Beaver Dam Care Center with his family at his side.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 19, 2006 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon. Funeral services will follow on Monday at church, beginning at 11:00 AM. Rev. Dennis Sundell will officiate. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery in Horicon.
Melvin Clarence Wille was born on March 3, 1923 in Green Lake, Wisconsin to the late Gustav and Hattie (Albrecht) Wille. He attended St. Stephen Elementary School and later graduated from Horicon High School with the class of 1941. Melvin served in the United States Army during World War II. As a member of the 692nd Tank Destroyers, Melvin fought in the Battle of the Bulge and also received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Melvin worked at Gardner Manufacturing in Horicon for 42 years, retiring in 1985. He was a life-long and active member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon where he served as a deacon. He was also a life-time member of the American Legion Post #157 in Horicon and a charter member, and board member, of the Horicon Rod & Gun Club. Melvin enjoyed bird watching and gardening. He was a wildlife artist from childhood and also made wildlife wood carvings. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and trap shooting. Most of all, Melvin loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

three great grandchildren Ricky and Ben Walters and Amanda Young
two sisters Arlene Walters of Beaver Dam and
Janet Schultz of Florence, Alabama
his brother Arden (Sandra) Wille of High Springs, Florida
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marion Jones
