Merlin L. Zuehlke

Merlin L. Zuehlke, 93, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Hillside Manor.

Merlin was born on April 2, 1931the son of Albert and Melozena (Voeltz) Zuehlke  in Green Bay, Wisconsin. On September 8, 1951, Merlin was united in marriage with Genevieve R. Lainberger at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage before her passing in 2006. He was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church.

Merlin lived a life defined by family and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.  He began his career as a farmer before founding his own sheet metal business, Dodge County Heating and Sheet Metal.  In 1976 he sold his business and continued to work installing furnaces for the gas company until 1994.  Even in retirement Merlin remained active, pursuing his passions and sharing his talents with those around him. An avid sportsman, he found joy in hunting, fishing, and trap shooting.  His love for the outdoors extended to his garden, where he grew fruits and vegetables, generously sharing his harvest with family and friends.  Known for growing the best strawberries, Merlin also took pride in making delicious homemade jams.

With a great sense of humor and a warm heart, Merlin was beloved by those who knew him.  He found peace and happiness at his cabin in Big Falls, Wisconsin, where he spent countless hours hunting, fishing, and simply enjoying the beauty of nature.

Merlin will be deeply missed by his daughter-in-law Donna Zuehlke of Beaver Dam; his grandson Aaron (Tracy) Zuehlke of St. Augustine, Florida; great grandchildren: Aden Zuehlke and Emma Zuehlke and sister-in-law Joan Zuehlke of Beaver Dam.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Genevieve, his son Gary, his sisters: Sylvia Thompson and Lila Potter and his brother Robert Zuehlke.

A visitation for Merlin will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.  A funeral service will begin at Noon with Rev. Jim Wendt officiating.  Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
