Michael L. Maleck

Michael L. Maleck, 66, of Beaver Dam passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison surrounded by his family. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Praise Assembly of God Church in Beaver Dam with Pastor Randy Carey officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 29th from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, and also on Saturday, May 30th from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, Township of Trenton. Michael was born the son of Michael F. and Charlotte (Mallon) Maleck on January 1, 1949, the year’s first New Year’s baby at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Beaver Dam. He was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He was married to Nancy B. Claggett on October 25, 1969 in Waupun. Mike began his career in metal fabrication as an apprentice at Monarch Range in Beaver Dam, and retired from Badger State Industries with the WI Department of Corrections. Mike’s hobbies included fishing, golfing and watching sporting events. He will be greatly missed for cooking delicious meals for many events. He quietly cared for two special needs children after a long work day by helping with laundry and cooking without complaint; “because that’s what we do” he’d say. He had a love of woodworking and cabinetry, making many beautiful items that will be treasured and last forever. He will be remembered for the unconditional care and generosity that he showed to others. He chose to be in the background not wanting attention for his works. He took great pride in and deeply loved his wife, children and grandchildren. Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy of Beaver Dam; his children: Eric (Jill) Maleck of Randolph, Rebecca (Keith) Hoefs of Horicon, and Tina Maleck of Beaver Dam; his four brothers: John (Jan) Maleck of Belvidere, IL, David (Karen) Maleck of Beaver Dam, Garry (Jane) Maleck of Beaver Dam, and Patrick (Patti) Maleck of Beaver Dam; his two sisters: Carol Braker of Portage and Charlynn (Ken) Scott of Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren: Doug, Tonya, Jesse, Austin, Dustin, Marissa, and Andrew; Luisa and Scott Jr. (2 of many adopted grandchildren) his mother-in-law, Loretta Claggett of Waupun; and further survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two children: Jaclynn in 1991 and Corey in 2000, his sister, Margaret Maleck, his father-in-law, Philip Claggett and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Braker.
