Nicholas “Nick” Jongebloed was welcomed into his eternal home on Sunday, August 17, 2025. Though his life took him many places, he’ll always hold a special place in our hearts.
Born on January 2, 1950, in Platteville, Wisconsin, Nick was the oldest of seven children to Richard and Diana Jongebloed. He graduated from Juneau High School in 1968 and earned his biology degree from UW-Stevens Point in 1972. While biology was his passion, Nick spent his career at John Deere in Horicon, serving in various roles, including HR Manager. He also taught hunter safety, which fit well with his love for the outdoors.
In 1973, he married Jeanne (Stern) Jongebloed, and they raised two children, Jeremy and Jenae, in Beaver Dam.
After retiring, Nick moved up north to Mercer on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage—a perfect spot for a man who loved the outdoors. He stayed busy running a stump removal business, fishing in every season, hunting and always being up for winning a game of cribbage. His Friday night fish fries were a tradition, usually with family and friends gathered around.
In 2022, Nick returned to the Dodge County area and settled in Waupun. He met Nancy (Riley) on a trip to Arizona and they married on March 15, 2024, in Mesa, Arizona. They spent their time snowbirding between Arizona and Wisconsin—fishing, traveling, and enjoying time with family and friends, especially the grandkids.
Nick is deeply missed by his wife, Nancy; his children, Jeremy Jongebloed and Jenae (Laurent) Delayen and his five beloved grandkids: Liberti, Lydia, Layla, Christophe, and Lea. He’s also remembered fondly by his siblings: Vicky (Rob) Schreiber, Anne (Kyle) Clark, Marie (Mike) Frey, John “Jay” (Lynne) Jongebloed, Sandy (Dane) Grosenick, and James “Jim” Jongebloed; former wife Jeanne; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He lived a full, vibrant life—and left behind a trail of great (fishing) stories, good laughs, and even better fish fries.
A memorial gathering will be held at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to “Sandhill Outdoor Skills Center” where the 2026 Sandhill Learn to Hunt Deer program will be dedicated to Nick.

One of the best neighbors growing up anyone could ask for. I have many memories of playing at the house in Beaver Dam on Walnut St. with Jenae and Jeremy. Listening to all the fishing stories and hearing about the big one that got away to running through the backyard to see the big buck he got. He will be missed.
