In 1968 I was in Mrs. Frederick's 5th grade at Jefferson elementary. I still have a picture of her and our class. In April we planted a tree to celebrate the first Earth day in our nation's history. She was a tremendous, thoughtful teacher who was respected by other teachers like my Mom. She also really stressed reading which helped me later in life to complete my Master's degree in journalism at Northwestern University.
I was so lucky to meet Phyllis at the manor. She was a faithful member at my "Fun With Bill" lessons. She was such a sweet lady. I loved talking to her about teaching and the travels she did during her life. She always appreciated my lessons and the treats I made for each of them. I will miss her.
I have known Phyllis since 1969 when I came to Jefferson School in Beaver Dam. Phyllis and Agnes Bertsch invited me to join DKG Alpha Xi Chapter in 1973. She was a good friend of mine and I always enjoyed seeing her at Alpha Xi meetings. She was a great lady and always knew what was happening even when she was in her 90's. I always enjoyed visiting at her home, cottage, and Hillside Manor. I will miss her.

I was honored to asked to join Alpha Xi by Phyllis and Agnes. She was a special friend and teacher in the Beaver Dam system. I am retired 36 years, She will be missed. She helped to start many things in Beaver Dam . I can't come to her funeral, but she will be in my thoughts and prayers.
I will miss this beautiful lady. I met her the day I walked into her 5th grade classroom. One of the kindest, patient & best educators of my life. Her interest was always in each of her students no matter how busy she was. We became friends throughout my adult years and when I moved from Wisconsin we wrote letters back and forth to keep in touch. I will miss her letters, I will miss going to The Manor to visit her, I will miss the hugs she always had waiting for me. Rest in peace my friend, until we meet again.
I was one of her students way way back in the day.Always liked her as a teacher. She will be deeply missed
