Richard “Dick” L. Lueck, 67, of Janesville died peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2007, surrounded by loved ones at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. He was born November 7, 1939, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, the son of Elmer “Stoney” and Emily (Hammer) Lueck. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1958, UW Whitewater in 1962, and went on to earn his Master”s Degree from Whitewater in 1974. Dick played both football and baseball for Beaver Dam High School and UW Whitewater, also playing football for the Racine Raiders. He touched many lives in his work as a history teacher, wrestling coach, and football coach in Berlin, Juda, and Fort Atkinson. Dick also worked at Jones Dairy Farm in Fort Atkinson and retired from General Motors in Janesville after 17 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, scouting high school football games, walking, running, biking, swimming, and playing chess, sheepshead, euchre, and pool. He spent many hours in the studies of philosophy (Objectivism), history, and politics. He was a member of the UAW and the Moose Lodge in Janesville. He is survived by 2 sons from his former wife Bette Lueck: Barry (Heidi) Lueck of Madison, and Brady (Brenda) Lueck of Burlington; a granddaughter: Olivia Grace Lueck; a brother; Lynn (Diane) Lueck of Milwaukee; his mother Emily Lueck of Beaver Dam; 4 neices; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and his only sister, Marilyn Pahl. Visitation will be at Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Thursday, February 22, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

To Mrs. Lueck and Family, Bette and I would like to express our heartfelt condolences on Dick''s passing. Dick and I were best friends in high school and had many fun times and happy memories together. We have gotten together in the past couple years for some golf. We had Dick as our teacher in Juda School in 1966 & 1967. We will always remember his discussions in class about the right wing and the left wing. Also Zeke Zambrovich and Peter Prosnostovich, and the proletariat class and the bushwa class of people. We never did quite figure all this out, but it left us with a lasting impression. Russ had coach Lueck for wrestling his junior and senior year. The team had great success under coach Lueck, culminating with the first wrestlers from Juda to advance to the State Tournament in Madison. THANKS COACH LUECK!! We always bring up his name at class reunion. This summer will be our 40th class reunion and he will be remembered fondly. Our deepest sympathy to all of you at this time.
