Richard W. Gilbert, age 68, of Horicon, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at his home.
A celebration of Richards life will be held on Saturday, August 17 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Horicon Rod and Gun Club in Horicon.
Richard was born the son of Albert and Ruth (nee Puterbaugh) Gilbert on March 22, 1956. He was 1974 graduate of Horicon High School. Richard retired from Mayville Engineering Company where he worked in sales. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. He also like shooting and the Horicon Gun Club. Richard also was a former coach for the Horicon Marshmen Wrestling. Richard also loved camping and bird watching. Music was also important to Richard and he played the harmonica and listened to jazz and blues records.
Richard is survived by his significant other- Carol Brunner. His 7 children- Derek Gilbert, Danielle Gilbert, Hope VanLoo, Kevin Gilbert, Nikki Johnson, Hannah Gilbert, and Seven Gilbert. His sisters- Joyce Twardokus, Jean Hoeft, and Glenna Gilbert. His 6 granchildren. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Joanne and Mary Ann.
