Ricky L. Born, 72, of Beaver Dam passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
Ricky was born on January 2, 1953 in Beaver Dam to Aaron and Beatrice (Lidtke) Born. He was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. Ricky was married to June Kurtz on October 19, 1974 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He was employed for 37 years with John Deere in Horicon until his retirement in 2009. Ricky later worked part-time for nine years with Vintage Parts in Beaver Dam.
Ricky was blessed with a good life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as woodworking. Ricky loved spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam where he enjoyed dart league with his church family.
Ricky is survived by his wife June of Beaver Dam; his children: Jennifer (Troy) Kinjerski of Beaver Dam, Dawn (Cory) Heigl of Vulcan, MI, and Jeffrey Born of Beaver Dam; grandchildren: Mariah (Garrett) Yeager, Megan (Josiah) Alderden, Alex (Allison) Heigl, Tristan Heigl, and Maddie, Aimee, and Christopher Born; great-grandchildren: Gunnar Yeager, Blake Thom, Jaxon Yeager, Aurora Alderden, and one more on the way; his siblings: Eileen (Richard) Burow and Allen Born; his mother-in-law Helen Kurtz; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Lyle Kurtz, and daughter-in-law Jackie Born.
A visitation will be held at First Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Rev. Jim Wendt will officiate. Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, township of Trenton, WI.

I’m lifting you up in my heart and sending love to you all. I have one very fond memory with Mr. Born. After school one, early in the fall, I sat on a five gallon bucket just outside the garage door on Pleasant Street and we shucked sweet corn. He was very meticulous about having all the silk removed and I took that as a challenge. To this day, every time I shuck corn, I think of him. Your family was ever-present in my childhood. at First Lutheran. I’m thankful for our time together and I’m so sorry for your loss.
