Robert A. Matheus

Robert A. Matheus, 85 of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Hillside Manor Nursing Home in Beaver Dam.

A memorial gathering for Bob will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at St. Stephen’ s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. A memorial service will begin at Noon with Rev. Paul Stratman officiating.  Inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.

Robert was born on June 30, 1939 the son of William A. and Anne N. (Feggestad) Matheus in Marshfield, Wisconsin.  Bob was a 1957 graduate from Medford High School and a 1959 graduate of Wausau Technical Institute.  He began his career at Allen Bradley Electrical Research Dept. as an electronic technician. He was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard from 1956 – 1964 during the Berlin Crisis. In 1964, he worked for Kearney & Trecker in Milwaukee installing robotics machine tools.

Bob was married to Joy Outsen in 1967 and they were blessed with two children Leah and Robert Jr.  It was then that Bob started a distributorship with Tombstone Pizza and made many major advances for the Tombstone Company.  Later he purchased Sunnyside Estates, Manufactured Housing Community of Beaver Dam and expanded it greatly.  This lead Bob to see the need for quality tools to rent on an at-need basis.  Bob then established Taylor Rental in Beaver Dam providing quality tools, party supplies and costumes along with a small engine repair shop.

In 1992, Bob married Venita Tuel and they were together for 42 years.  After Bob retired in 2018 he enjoyed traveling to all 50 States, Canada, Mexico and Ireland.  He was a member of the National Rental Association, Wisconsin Rental Association, the Exchange Club of Beaver Dam and a past member of AM Kiwanis Club. Bob was also a faithful member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.

Bob will be deeply missed by his wife Venita; children Leah (Brad) Ingram of Oconomowoc, Terri (Mark) Moser St. Michael, MN and Tony Tuel Beaver Dam; grandchildren: Bryce Kutcher, Kendall Kutcher and Grant Moser; sisters-in-law: Evie Matheus of West Bend, Phyllis (Dave) Morse of Greenwood, MS and Polly (Gary) Schmidt of Beaver Dam and his former wife Joy.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Donald, sister Joan Simek, brother William Matheus and his beloved son Robert Matheus Jr who passed away in 1991, also Venita’s parents William and Lorraine Ehlers and sister-in-law Vivian Fabian.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church Restoration Fund.
