Robert J. “Bear” Paitrick, age 80, of Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, peacefully at his home with family by his side.
The visitation will be at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Ronald Mach officiating. Bear has requested that his family and friends wear casual attire. A private entombment will be held on Monday at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.
Robert was born on March 10, 1944, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Marvin and Mabel “June” (Draheim) Paitrick. He attended Beaver Dam High School and served as vice president all four years, for the class of 1962.
Bear was united in marriage with Terry Hasenfus in 1980. Shortly after they were married, they owned and operated The Bear’s Den Tavern in Beaver Dam, until selling in 1995. Bear also worked for 42 years in the sheet metal trade for heating and cooling.
He was an avid bowler and was proud of bowling a 713. Bear enjoyed hunting and fishing, and looked forward to his trips out west with friends and family. One of his greatest adventures was a bear hunting trip to Canada with his son in 2001. Bear also enjoyed racing and looked forward to watching his son and grandson whip around the track. In 2006, Bear retired so he could enjoy more time with his wife. They enjoyed taking the occasional casino trip and just being in each other’s company. He became a skilled wood worker; making bird houses, planters and wood burning. He loved when his grandchildren and great grandchildren would keep him busy too.
Bear is survived by his wife of 44 years, Terry of Beaver Dam; daughter, Brenda (Jymme) Pieper of Beaver Dam; son, Tim (Sue) Paitrick of Beaver Dam; son, Dean (Angi) Leggett of Sussex; grandchildren: Corey and Amanda, Brandon (Ciara), Cole and Rhianna; great grandchildren: Joey, Carson, Zane, and Camreigh; sisters-in-law, Emily Paitrick and Marverne Paitrick-Lehner; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin and George; sister, Patricia Giebel; mother-in-law, Ruby; and great granddaughter, Gemma.
Memorials may be made in Robert J. Paitrick’s name to Beaver Dam Loaves and Fishes at First Lutheran Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
