Robert C. Schmitt

Robert C. Schmitt, age 83, of Beaver Dam, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital. Visitation for Bob will be at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road in Beaver Dam, on Friday, June 12, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM. On Saturday, June 13, 2015, there will be a visitation at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 S. Spring Street in Beaver Dam, from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM; a Mass of Christian Burial will follow beginning at 10:30 AM. Fr. Michael J. Erwin will officiate. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Beaver Dam. A luncheon will follow at St. Katharine Drexel Parish Center – Mission Hall. Robert was born on August 20, 1931 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Peter and Gertrude (Hammer) Schmitt. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1949 and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956. On August 9, 1958, Bob was united in marriage with Mildred Mae Braker at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. He was an employee of the Dodge County Co-op for over 50 years until he retired just a couple years ago. Bob enjoyed camping, bowling, playing cards, grilling out, attending grandchildren events, and spending time with family and friends. He was a people person who was eager to strike up a conversation with anyone. Bob was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam. Survivors include four children, Gregg (Kathy) Schmitt of Fitchburg, Jackie (Dan) Neff of Beaver Dam, Shelly (Tim) Kirst of Kewaskum, and Kevin Schmitt of Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; three brothers, Carl (Marilyn) Schmitt, Leo (Virginia) Schmitt, and Dan (Linda) Schmitt, all of Beaver Dam; his sister, Caroline (Ed) Kulka; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Tom Schmitt. The Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam is caring for the family.
