Robert W. Ponik

Robert W. Ponik, 89 years old, of Beaver Dam, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at his home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 20th at 5:30 p.m. at Praise Assembly of God Church in Beaver Dam, with Pastor Randal Carey officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 20th from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m., also at the church. Inurnment will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, township of Dover. Military rites will be conducted by the John E. Miller American Legion Post #146 of Beaver Dam. Robert W. Ponik was born to Henry and Edith (Trudel) Ponik on May 15, 1925 in Milwaukee, WI. He was united in marriage to Shirley Davison on October 9, 1992 in Las Vegas, NV. Robert was employed by and retired from the Ladish Company in Cudahy, WI. Robert was a member of Praise Assembly of God Church in Beaver Dam. He was a veteran of the U.S, Army, serving in the European Theatre in WWII as a paratrooper. He was a master craftsman with a brilliant vision, as well as a poet. He was a member of the John E. Miller American Legion Post #146 of Beaver Dam and the VFW #1163. Robert touched many, many lives during his life. Robert is survived by: his wife Shirley of Beaver Dam, his son Robert (Donna) Ponik of Milwaukee; his step-daughters- Debra (Robert) Langenfeld of West Bend, Sherry (Richard) Moegenberg of Lomira, Tammy (James) Gatton of Racine, and Leah Block of Germantown; his step-sons- Rick Larson of Pewaukee and Randal Larson of Racine; 3 grandchildren- Wendy, Thomas and Dan; 6 great grandchildren- Dominic, Daniel, Ashlynn, Mariah, Dillon, and Summer Ann; 11 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, his 1st wife Bette, his son Raymond, his sister Dorothy, and his brother Raymond.
