Roger A. Schliewe Sr.

September 13, 1939 - February 7, 2007

Roger E. Schliewe, Sr, age 67 of Horicon, died on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Friends and family may call on Sunday, February 11, 2007, at the Murray Funeral Home in Horicon from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Monday, February 12, 2007 at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 12, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon. Rev. Daniel Seehafer will officiate. Burial will be in the Lowell Cemetery.
Roger Erwin Schliewe was born on September 13, 1939, in the Town of Portland, the son of Erwin and Alice (Klug) Schliewe. On February 15, 1958, he was united in marriage to Joyce Rahn in Lowell, WI. Roger worked at the glove factory in Reeseville for 10 years. When the factory closed he moved his family to Horicon and was the custodian at St. Stephen Church and School for the next seven years. He then was employed at Dodge County in the Law Enforcement Building as a maintenance engineer and later as the assistant supervisor, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church for many years. He was an avid pool player. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, woodworking and gambling, especially at Las Vegas. Roger was a collector of John Deere toys and traveled to many shows in the midwest, winning several awards throughout the years. Roger enjoyed traveling and spending time together with his wife Joyce. Roger was very proud of his children and grandchildren and was always seen at their different sporting events.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Schliewe of Horicon; his three children, Roger (Jean) Schliewe, Jr. of Horicon, Darrel (Liz) Schliewe of Horicon and Tammy Hintz of Horicon; his ten grandchildren, Sgt. Taylor Schliewe, Christopher (Jeanine) Hintz, Kurt Charles Hintz, Jr, Brooke Schliewe, Matt Schliewe, Scott (Kindra) Hintz, Jack Thomas Schliewe, SamaraJo Hintz, Sarah Schliewe and Koden Hintz-Gonzalez; his great grandson, Landon Hintz; sister, Irene (Lester, Sr.) Zwieg of Watertown, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law, Kurt Hintz, Sr, and his sister, Shirley Neis.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Roger Schliewe”s name to the charity of one”s choice.

When I worked for Bruce & Donna''s, Roger would always mentor me in how to tell a good joke or make a good mix drink and God forbid I use the rail liquor for his, only top shelf!
