Roger “Mr. Wilson” Westphal

Roger C. “Mr. Wilson” Westphal, 86, a resident of the The Meadows in Fall River passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Columbus Nursing and Rehab. Center.Roger was born the son of Clarence and Lucile (Andler) Westphal on July 13, 1931 in Columbus, WI. He was a 1950 graduate of Columbus High School. Roger was married to Marjorie Opel on October 23, 1954 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus. He was employed with Metalfab in Columbus until his retirement. Roger also helped work on his family’s farm for many years. Roger served his country in the Wisconsin Army National Guard for over 20 years. He was a member of the International Associations of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union. Roger was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Columbus. He was a member of the AMVETS. He was a member of the Clyman Lion’s Club where he received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. Roger enjoyed helping the elderly especially with their lawns and gardens as well as helping at the Larson House.Roger is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Fall River; his children: Gary (Katherine) Westphal of Pardeeville, Teresa (Ron) Fry of Lake Geneva, and Timothy (Diane) Westphal of Fall River; his sister, Joan Klug of Columbus; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Donna Westphal. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church in Columbus from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Sandra Schieble will officiate. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Columbus where military honors will be conducted.
