Rosella “Rosie” Smith

Rosella “Rosie” Smith, age 87, of Westford Township, passed away quietly on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. A visitation will be at Annunciation Catholic Church in Fox Lake on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will start promptly 11:30 a.m. at the church on Tuesday with Fr. Michael Wild officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Columbus on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Rosella Marie Schraufnagel was born on April 6, 1928 to Alois and Elizabeth (nee: Wolf) Schraufnagel in Leroy, Wisconsin. She was united in marriage with Norman E. Smith on April 22, 1947 at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Columbus. Together, they raised five children. Rosie was active with the Beaver Pigion and Bantam Club as well as the Senior Center in Columbus. She was a devoted catholic, being an active member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Fox Lake and she was a past member of the Christian Mothers Society. In her spare time she enjoyed making wedding cakes, gardening and especially tending to her flowers and apple trees. Rosie loved all animals and enjoyed caring for them. Rosie is survived by her children, Gary (Karol) Smith of Cottage Grove, Sherry Smith of North Fond du Lac, Bonita (Michael) Laue of Juneau; daughter-in-law, Ilene Smith of Columbus; brothers-in-law, Lyle (Shirley) Smith and Kenny Wille; ten grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Elaine Schraufnagel, Eleanor Schraufnagel, and Dorothy Schraufnagel; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rosie now resides in heaven with her parents; her husband Norman in 2014; two sons, Michael Smith and Timothy Smith; brothers, Victor Schraufnagel, Harold Schraufnagel, Gilbert Schraufnagel, Sr., and Alex Schraufnagel; sisters, Bernice Grenas and Lorraine Huettner The Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam is caring for the family.
