Rosemarie LaBomascus

Rosemarie LaBomascus, 93, passed away peacefully, with family by her side, at Atrium Post-Acute Care Center of Williams Bay, WI on April 10, 2017, after a short, but spirited battle with cancer.Born August 30, 1923 in LeRoy, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Raymond H., & Lucy C. (Bauer) Youngbeck. She was baptized at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church of LeRoy, & educated at St. Andrew’s Catholic School of LeRoy, St. Mary’s Catholic School of Mayville, & Mayville High School. She graduated from the latter in 1941 & soon after went to work on the telephone switchboard at Maysteel before, and during World War II.On May 15, 1948, she married her U.S. Marine, the late John E. LaBomascus at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Mayville, WI. Rosemarie was a homemaker while her children were young, but she went back to work after her youngest started school. Her other places of employment included the Mayville Canning Company, Mayville Metal, and finally, the Mayville School District, where she was a library aide at Mayville High, & Middle Schools from 1969, to 1991 when she retired.In her younger days, Rosie kept a large garden; canning, or pickling her harvest. She also was a Cub Scout den mother during the early 1960s, & taught CCD for a time. She enjoyed quilting, sewing clothes and Halloween costumes, and playing solitaire on her Kindle. Rosie was a mother to all that knew her – welcoming, generous and full of love. When she wasn’t feeding your stomach, she was feeding your heart and soul with her quiet humor and kind words. Telling stories over dinner, or a game of liverpool rummy, she was the provenance of the house. Simply put, she was our home. Faith fueled her, as did the love of her family. Of all the gifts she gave, the memories she shared and made with all those that knew her are everlasting. They taught us what it is to live and to love. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, one daughter: Judy Ann, four brothers: Gilbert, Cornelius, Frank & Hubert, and two sisters-in-law: Irene, & Mary. Rosemarie is survived by two sons: John (Georgia), of Williams Bay, & David (Jessica) of Grant, MI; and two daughters: Jeri (Russell) Workman, of Arlington, TX; and Julie, of Mayville. Her sisters: Myrtle (Lawrence) Bath of Mayville and Angeline Dedering of Chilton.Grand-children: Zachary (Bazil) LaBomascus, Dr. Stephanie (fiancee: Erich Fries)LaBomascus; Ketti (Chad) Robertson, Kalli (Richard) Wilson, Kara Workman, Aaron (fiancee: Hannah Goble) LaBomascus, & Benjamin LaBomascus. Great-grand children: Kiernan Brannan, Zane, & Aubrey Robertson, Kaiya Nandin, Jagger Renaldi, Shyann, & Justice Wilson. Plus, various nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.A memorial service is being planned by the family to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rosemarie’s name can be made to the Mayville Historical Society, or St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mayville, Wisconsin. The family thanks the staff at Agnesian Cancer Center, St. Agnes Hospital, Heartland Hospice,& the Atrium Post-Acute Care Center.
