Rosemary A. McDermott

Rosemary A. McDermott, 95, of Beaver Dam passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Dycora Transitional Living in Beaver Dam. Rosemary was born the daughter of Henry and Agnes (Buchach) Brusenbach on January 2, 1924 in Watertown. She was a graduate of Watertown High School. Rosemary was married to John “Mac” McDermott on September 30, 1948 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Watertown. Rosemary moved to Beaver Dam in 1948 and became involved with Girl Scout work until her first child was born and continued staying at home to raise her four children. In 1970, she went to work for Shopko for many years which she enjoyed very much. Rosemary became involved in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam where she served on the church council for two terms, chair of the Human Concerns committee, and president of the Christian Women. She was a Eucharistic Minister and delivered communion for the home bound. Rosemary continued to remain an active member with St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church. She belonged to the Daughters of Isabella for over 50 years where she held different offices and most recently being the Regent for 5 years. Rosemary was a volunteer at the Clearview Nursing Home, Dodge County Store. She was a member of the Women’s Club serving as Conservation Chairman and Corresponding Secretary. Rosemary volunteered with Church Women United, the Tree of Lights, and delivered Meals on Wheels. Rosemary loved her time working and volunteering because of her love of being with people. Rosemary is survived by her children: Kathleen “Kathy” (Bruce) Riemer of Eden Prairie, MN, Diane Jacobsen of Plymouth, MN, Jeffrey McDermott of Beaver Dam, and David (Beth) McDermott of Plymouth, MN; six grandchildren: Eric Riemer, Kimberly (Derek) Herman, Shaun (Shiri) McDermott, J. Patrick McDermott, Daniel “Danny” McDermott, and Elizabeth McDermott; six great-grandchildren: Logan, Andrew, Amelia, Emma, Alexa, and Avery; her sister, Dorothy Thompson of Sacramento, CA; sister-in-law, Lois Schultz of Janesville; sister-in-law: Monica McDermott of Reedsburg; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, “Mac,” and her brother, Paul Brusenbach. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Beaver Dam from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. (noon). A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church with Fr. Michael Erwin officiating. Interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Katharine Drexel Parish or to the Beaver Dam men’s and women’s homeless shelters.
