Ruby Violet Gentz, age 103, of Iron Ridge, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center in Hartford with her loving family at her side.
Funeral Services for Ruby will take place on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville with Rev. Traci Maass officiating. A visitation for Ruby will be held at church on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Mayville.
Ruby was born in Oak Grove to Herbert and Elsie (Nehls) Becker on June 27, 1921. She was the oldest of ten children. Ruby was united in marriage to Earl Gentz on September 2, 1945, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woodland.
Together with her husband, Ruby farmed in the Town of Hubbard and raised their family. She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville where she served for many years on the Altar Guild.
Ruby’s greatest happiness in life was her family and all the time they spent together. She loved attending her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed gardening, bowling, fishing, jigsaw puzzles, bird watching, and car rides. Ruby was a wonderful cook and could often be found in the kitchen cooking or baking something delicious.
Ruby is survived by her children: Christine Wendler of Brownsville, Carolyn Gentz of Iron Ridge, and Robert (Christa) Gentz of Iron Ridge; grandchildren: Brenda (Mike Moede) Ehlers, Christopher (Crystal) Wendler, Brandon (Lauren Muenster) Gentz, Bryan (Stephanie) Gentz, Marissa (Aaron) Hartwig; great-grandchildren: Paul Ehlers Jr. (Jason Suchon), Stephanie (Brian II) Eiche, Jessica Ehlers (Pete Unser), Alec Wendler, Noah Wendler, and Logan Wendler, Everett Gentz, Scarlett Hartwig, and baby Gentz on the way; and great great grandchildren: Emma, Brian III, and Waylon. Ruby is further survived by her sisters Evangeline Gunka and Jean Chapman, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Earl in 1985; son-in-law Norman Wendler; siblings and in laws: Daniel Becker, Oliver Becker, Joan (Wallace) Pusch, Herbert (Joan) Becker, Calvin (Delores) Becker, Curtis (Mary) Becker, Beverly Mann, John Gunka, Walter Chapman, Otis (Elvira) Roll.
