Russell Mark Poritz

Russell Mark Poritz, 58 years old, of Horicon, was called home to his permanent hunting land in Heaven on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at U.W. Hospital, Madison. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jonathan Szczesny officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. also at the church. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon.Russell was born the son of Russell F. and Ruth (Elverman) Poritz on September 1, 1959 in Burlington, WI. He was united in marriage to Sandra L. Christian on September 1, 2006 in Horicon. Russ was a graduate of Burlington High School. He was employed by and retired from the City of Horicon Water Department. Russ is survived by his wife Sandi of Horicon; his daughters Allison (Rebecca Egan) Poritz of Appleton, Cassandra (Daniel) Anderson of Milwaukee, and Rachel Poritz of Milwaukee; his step-children Bruce Christian, Jr. of Horicon and Kelly Christian of Horicon; he was known by his grandchildren Ashton, Isaac, Alec, and Peyton as “Papa”; his sisters-in-law Debbie (Frank) Sauer of Horicon and Sue (Dean) Cook of Fox Lake; his brothers-in-law Mike Riese of Montello and Ken Riese of Randolph; other relatives and friends.Russ was a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon. He enjoyed hunting & fishing and was a member of the Swan Road Pheasant Club. Russ always loved to have fun and share laughs with others. He loved spending time in the woods whatever the season. Father’s Day was always reserved for the annual trip to the trout farm to replenish his smoked trout supply for the year, where many memories were made. He is now reunited with his hunting partner Hooch. The family would like to give a special thanks to Russ’s sister Sandy Jenkins, her husband Kerry, and his children Jake, Heather, Brianna. They would also like to thank the staff at U.W. Hospital.
