Sally I. Rueckert-Shaw-Zuelsdorf, 67, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on Monday, July 18, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. A visitation will also be held on Thursday, July 21 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Sally Irene was born the daughter of Arnold and Gertrude (Schlueter) Rueckert on July 26, 1943 in Portage, WI. She was a 1961 graduate of Portage High School. Sally was married to James O. Zuelsdorf on March 16, 1991 in Juneau, WI. She was employed with the Weyenberg Shoe Factory both in Portage and Beaver Dam for many years. She also attended Kettle Moraine Technical College where she received her AODA counselor certification. Afterwards, she was employed as a drug and alcohol counselor with the St. Claire Center in Baraboo, WI for 14 years until her retirement in 2006.
Sally was a cancer survivor and a seven year dialysis veteran. She was an A.A. member since 1979. Sally was also a member of the Dodge County Antique Power Club. She was an animal lover. Sally was an excellent role model and an inspiration, touching the hearts of many. She was unwavering in her faith and good spirit; truly the definition of love.
Sally is survived by her husband, James of Beaver Dam; her children: Dean (Flora) Shaw of Endeavor, WI, Dawn Shaw of Juneau, Gary (Lisa) Zuelsdorf of Beaver Dam, Cindy (special friend Joe Whitman) Zuelsdorf of Waupun, and Scott Zuelsdorf of Beaver Dam; her sister, Louise (special friend Ray) Gwinn of Wisconsin Rapids; 10 grandchildren: Joey (Jenny), Nick (Savannah), Kat, Cody, Robert, Crystal (Aaron), Amber (special friend Shawn), Lucas, Travis, and Alison; 8 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one niece.
