I'm not really sure what to say, but I'll say what I can. You stepped in and adopted me when I was 14yrs old took me on as your daughter and legally adopted me when I didn't have the greatest experiences with father figures in my life. I distanced myself over the years and know you understood why in the end. Even though you were divorced you were still my dad. One of my fond memories of you was everytime Enter Sandman would come on we would turn it up and sing it together word for word! Even today when that song comes on I sing it and think of you. RIP dad
Although not mentioned in your obituary, please know I am and always will be your daughter. We left on bad terms, and neither of us made it right. That is a closure I will never get. However, you are still my dad, and I am still your daughter. I often thought about where you were or how you were doing. I never knew your health was failing. I added a picture of you and me. It was 2002, the year I graduated High School. I was excited to see you that day. I didn't know if you would be able to make it, but your exact words to me, "I would never miss this special day." You seemed very happy with your girlfriend. I had not seen you in a few years before that.
I will leave you with a few words from your favorite song by Lynard Skynard, "Free Bird" because you are as free as a bird now.
"If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?
For I must be traveling on now
'Cause there's too many places I've got to see"
Love you always Dad. rest easy your work here on earth is done!
Thank you for making me a Cowboys fan, I sure hope we make it this year!!
Scott i miss you
