Shirley R. Schraufnagel, 85 years old, of Mayville, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau.A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 16th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville, with the Rev. Joy Mortensen-Wiebe officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 15th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville, and also on Thursday, February 16th from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Mayville.Shirley Rae was born on April 28, 1931 to Leslie and Olga (Retzlaff) Smith, Sr. in Mayville. She was a graduate of Mayville High School. Shirley was united in marriage to David H. Schraufnagel on June 2, 1956 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville. Shirley was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville. She enjoyed cooking, polka music, and playing sheepshead. Shirley was a very devoted mother and grandmother.Shirley is survived by her daughter Jill (Jerry) Genzmer of Horicon; her sister Judith Smith of Mayville; her granddaughters Emily and Shelby; other relatives and friends.Shirley is preceded in death by: her parents, her husband David in 2004, and her brothers Leslie, Jr. and Ralph, Sr.Memorials may be directed to: St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville.
