Stanley R. Schilling, age 83, of Horicon, died on Saturday, May 12, 2007, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at the Murray Funeral Home in Horicon from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held following the visitation at the Murray Funeral Home in Horicon at 7:00 PM. Burial will be on Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at 9:00 AM at the Oakhill Cemetery in Horicon. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Horicon American Legion Post #157.
Stanley Richard Schilling was born on October 24, 1923, in Horicon, the son of the late Paul and Dina (Zietlow) Schilling. He attended the Horicon High School. Stanley then served in the US Army in WWII in the European Theater. He then returned home and was united in marriage to Gloria Smith on March 2, 1946, at St. Peter”s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. He worked for Gardner Mfg. in Horicon for several years and worked at John Deere Horicon Works for over 35 years. He was a member of the Horicon American Legion Post #157. Stanley also tended bar at the B & B in Horicon for many years. Stanley enjoyed going to the many different casinos in Wisconsin.
Survivors include, his wife, Gloria “Boots” Schilling of Horicon, three daughters, Barbara Pegelow of Horicon, Linda (Don) Pavelka of Green Bay and Laura (Al) McCord of Juneau, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Richard, on June 6, 2005 and his son-in-law, Harlan Pegelow.
