Susan Carol Contreras, 77, of Beaver Dam died on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
The former Susan Carol Fashun was born on December 7, 1947 to Edward and Della (Radtke) Fashun in Watertown, WI. Growing up in Juneau, Susan attended St. John’s Lutheran School, Juneau High School, and Madison Business College where she graduated with a Court and Conference Reporting degree. For the next several years, she worked for various Wisconsin State agencies throughout the state and Circuit Court, Branch 1, Stevens Point, WI. On August 14, 1979, Susan was married to Ignacio Contreras in Copenhagen, Denmark where he was on an overseas assignment for General Motors for two years. They traveled extensively in Europe and the U.S. They then moved to Santa Barbara/Goleta, California area where Susan worked for various temporary help agencies and Raytheon Electromagnetic Systems Division in the purchasing department as an administrative assistant. She and Ignacio moved to the township of Beaver Dam in July of 1998.
Susan was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau where she was a member of the choir, altar committee, and Ladies Aid. Her volunteer work consisted of working at the Bethesda County store in Horicon, the Bethesda Fair, and visiting shut-ins with Ignacio and the Ladies Aid women. She was a member of TOPS for many years where she served as secretary. Susan loved nature and working outside in her perennial gardens. She was a member of the Fox Lake Garden Club. Susan loved working with crafts, sewing, quilting, and knitting and showed many of her “Sioux” creations at the Seippel Homestead’s yearly Fiber Show throughout the years.
Susan is survived by her sister Jean Johnston; her brother William (Dianne) Fashun; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ignacio; and her sister Lois Conditt.
A memorial gathering will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12 p.m. Rev. Nicholas Mount will officiate. Inurnment will take place at St. John’s Cemetery, Juneau, WI.
