Terry D. Desjarlais

Terry A. Desjarlais, age 69, of Beaver Dam, died from complications of brain cancer on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Friends and family may call at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Sunday, May 20, 2007 from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM and at Grace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam on Monday, May 21, 2007 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will follow at church on Monday, beginning at 11:00 AM. Rev. Dr. Jack Harrison will officiate. A light luncheon will be served in the church hall immediately following the service.

Terry Allen Desjarlais was born on September 8, 1937 in Lake Township, Menominee County, Michigan to the late Clifford & Mary (Burie) Desjarlais. He attended school in Columbus, Wisconsin and was united in marriage with Mary A. Vander Galien on September 27, 1958 in Waupun. Terry worked at Weyenberg Shoe Company and then as a spray painter at Metal Fab and Gleason Reel, retiring at the age of 62. He took pride in his work and worked hard. Terry was a family man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed working on the family house and property and was always available to help his brothers or friends, or anyone else who needed a hand. Terry had a wonderful garden every year and also grew beautiful flowers. He drove a red Dodge Dakota truck and enjoyed hunting and fishing. One of Terry”s favorite spots to go was Lake Nakomis near Tomahawk, Wisconsin. Terry was a member of Geace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Desjarlais of Beaver Dam, four children, Doreen (Gerald) Neuberger of Manitowoc, Tammy Desjarlais of Beaver Dam, Carrie Desjarlais of Waupun, and Richard (Debra) Desjarlais of Randolph, eight grandchildren, Corinna Oestreich of Beaver Dam, Stephanie Sheahan of Beaver Dam, Sara Neuberger of Wausau, Dawn Desjarlais of Berlin, Andy Braaflat of Beaver Dam, Amber Desjarlais of Randolph, Kasandra Carrick of Beaver Dam, Katie Carrick of Beaver Dam, four great grandchildren, Zachary Oestreich, Korrin Neuberger, Chloe Braaflat, and Zoey Rijkse, five brothers, Delbert Desjarlais of Columbus, William Desjarlais of Marinette, Ralph (Jean) Desjarlais of Beaver Dam, Arnold (Virginia) Desjarlais of Beaver Dam, and Jerry Desjarlais of Horicon, two sisters, Arlene Webb of Menomonie, Michigan and Faye (Harry) Westover of Coloma, two sisters-in-law, Beverly Desjarlais of Beaver Dam and Jeanine (Harold) Nummerdor of Waupun, a brother-in-law, David (Gwen) Vander Galien of Waupun, his best friend, Raymond Murray of Beaver Dam, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Eric Braaflat, two brothers, Clifford Desjarlais and Larry Desjarlais, a brother-in-law, Frank Webb, and four sisters-in-law, Lavern Desjarlais, Violet Desjarlais, Geraldine Desjarlais, and Dorothy Desjarlais.

The family suggests that memorials be made in Terry Desjarlais” name to Grace Presbyterian Church, 215 Gould St., Beaver Dam, WI 53916 or the American Cancer Society, 8317 Elderberry Rd, Madison, WI 53717.
