Thomas A. Ross

April 28, 1964 - May 5, 2020

Thomas A. Ross, age 56, formerly of Beaver Dam, died Tuesday May 5, 2020 at his home in Deerfield following a courageous battle with ALS. Due to the current Safer at Home order a private family service will be held. A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a later date for family and friends. Thomas Andrew Ross was born on April 28, 1964 in Madison, Wisconsin to Gerald and Ramona (Garde) Ross. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1982 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from UW Stout. On September 6, 2019, he was united in marriage with Lydia Weber in Madison. Tom had been employed at FedEx in Madison. Tom had been an avid recreational pilot and owned his own plane. He also loved riding his Harley and spending time with his faithful companion, his dog, Winston. Survivors include his loving wife Lydia Ross of Deerfield; his mother, Ramona Ross of Beaver Dam; two sisters, Mary Ross (Deb Sunderman) of Savage, MN and Julie (Terry) Laverty of Germantown; two nephews and a niece, Luke, Mark and Claire; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Hildegard and Wayne Fischer; five step-children, Zachariah (Anika), Hillary (Matthew), Maxwell, Lorelei, and Philip; his good friends, the “Meadow Muffins” who have been very supportive; as well as other relatives and friends. Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Gerald in 2007 and an infant sister, Ann Elizabeth in 1966. I first met Tom when he was in First Grade at St. Patrick's School in Beaver Dam. He was a classmate of my youngest sister, Juli. I was in the Eighth Grade at the time. Fast forward to about 2006. Tom and I ran into each other and reconnected with what was a 14-year friendship defined by laughs and sarcasm. My heart goes out to Ramona, Mary Faith, Julie and all the rest of the Ross Family. Lydia, we've never met but I know that Tom was simply over the moon about you. He had finally found "The One". You brought all the light into this sorrowful time for him. Like so many others, I'll always miss him. God Speed, Tom.

I also met Tom as a member of the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department many years ago. He had an infectious smile, and you could feel the pure joy that he felt when you talked about his ultralight or flight. My deepest sympathy to his wife, his family and his friends.

I met Tom when he joined the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department many years ago. We spent many hours together responding to emergencies and training for the next one. He always had a smile on his face and I enjoyed chatting with him. I will cherish those memories of Tom and extend my deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

My heart is so heavy. I am so sorry for your loss. Tom left footprints on my heart. I was lucky enough to be a part of his ALS journey during my work with the ALS Association. Again, my condolences for the loss of such a sweet man.

What an incredibly kind human being Roscoe was. I still hear his laugh in my head and it makes me smile. I remember him surprising me with a chocolate milkshake on the day I got my wisdom teeth out and road trips in his silver pickup in college. So blessed to have known him. So sorry for your loss.

Haven't seen Tommy in years but thought of him on occasion. What a kind sweet guy Tommy was.

Lydia, It is with a heavy heart and great sympathy that I am writing this upon hearing of the loss of Tom. It was a privilege to have known Tom through my younger brother Jim (a "Meadow Muffins" original). Tom could and did light up a room and then some. When I think of Tom Ross I smile because my thoughts of Tom are filled with only positive memories. Such a nice guy that everyone enjoyed being with! You are missed, Tom! My condolences to Tom's family and friends.
