Velma M. Schroeder

Velma M. Schroeder, 97, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Sylvan Crossings in Beaver Dam. A visitation for Velma will be held Friday, February 2, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. A funeral service will follow at church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Terry Larson officiating. Burial will take place at North Burnett Cemetery. Velma was born the daughter of Frank and Anna (Warber) Birkholz on January 7, 1921 in the Tn. of Trenton. On September 7, 1940 she was united in marriage with Orin Schroeder at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. Velma was a longtime member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. In 1999 Velma and Orin moved to Beaver Dam after living their whole life in Burnett Corners. Back in the day Velma enjoyed going to polka dances. She liked to play sheepshead card games with friends, was an avid gardener and baker, and always had a smile on her face. She is survived by her son; Randy (Susan Jarapko) Schroeder of Fox Lake, daughter; Rita (Jim) Gillmore of Rochester, MN, sister-in-law; Marian Birkholz, eight grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orin in 2010, son Ryan Schroeder in 1982, and 2 brothers; Lyle and Merwyn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Rainbow Hospice.
