William P. Rabbitt, age 76, of Beaver Dam, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2006 at the Christian Home in Waupun.
Private family services will be held at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Cremation will follow, with inurnment at the Forrest Home Cemetery in Townsend, WI.
William Philip Rabbitt was born on May 11, 1930 in the Town of Townsend, Oconto County, Wisconsin to Lewie and Mattie (Wynn) Rabbitt. Bill attended Wabeno High School, and later served in both the United States Air Force and the United States Coast Guard for a total of ten years. On December 17, 1962, he was united in marriage to Shirley Mae Lornson in Oshkosh. Bill worked for Wisconsin Bell and Ameritech for over 30 years, retiring on March 17, 1992. He was a member of the Communications Workers of America and served as a union steward, as well as president, vice-president and secretary/treasurer. Bill enjoyed reading, working with his hands, genealogy and cooking. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Rabbitt of Beaver Dam; six children, Marcy (Gary) Kaul of Beaver Dam, Danial (Stephanie) Rabbitt of Beaver Dam, Bradley (Janice) Rabbitt of Clarksville, TN, Lorena (Jeff) Van Nocker of Pickett, Scott (Angie) Rabbitt of Beaver Dam and Corey Rabbitt (special friend Gwen O”Brion) of Beaver Dam; eight grandchildren; four step grandchildren; five sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Lee Rabbitt, Vernon Rabbitt and Merlin Rabbitt.
