William C. Kraft, 89, a resident of Oakwood Village East in Madison and formerly of Beaver Dam passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016 at UW-Hospital in Madison. William was born the son of Aldo and Dorthea (Gleason) Kraft on July 27, 1926 in Dennison, MN. He was a graduate of Iowa State University. He was a veteran of US Navy during WWII. Bill was married to Mary Walters on December 26, 1948 in Storm Lake, IA. He dedicated his career to the Wisconsin dairy industry. Bill was an avid sports enthusiast especially the Packers and UW Badgers, where he was a season ticket holder for 40 years. He enjoyed playing golf and cards. Later in life, Bill actively played duplicate bridge and weekly read crime and mystery novels. Bill is survived by his children: Robert (Joan) Kraft of Madison, Ann Kraft of Hartford, WI, and Craig Kraft of Washington, DC; his grandchildren: Travis Savitt-Kraft, Eric Kraft, Kyle Knaup, and Michele Kraft; his sisters: Barbara Woods of Cedar Falls, IA and Joan Godber of Cedar Rapids, IA; his brothers: Donn Kraft of San Antonio, TX and Kay Kraft of Sarasota, FL; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary in 2001, his sister, Gwen Christensen, his brothers: Mark and Dean Kraft, and his grandson, Ryan Knaup. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Tree of Life Chapel in Oakwood Village East in Madison with refreshments to be served afterwards. A private family interment was held at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam with military honors conducted by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post 146.
