Alan M. Coles, 81, of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, passed away on October 8, 2026, at UW Health University Hospital in Madison following complications from heart procedures.
The memorial gathering will be at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Thursday, October 15, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. The memorial service will follow at the funeral home on Thursday at 12:00 noon. John R. Leiting will be the celebrant.
Born in Beaver Dam to Maurice and Rosemary Coles, Alan graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1963. He married his high school sweetheart and soulmate, Jayne Middleton, on October 14, 1967, sharing nearly 58 wonderful years together.
Alan’s strong work ethic began as a young paperboy, delivering newspapers by bicycle. He went on to a successful career as a certified purchasing agent, beginning at Mercury Marine and later working for Metal Fab, Micro Design, Leach Company, Enerpac, and Seal Graphics.
Alan was an active Boy Scout troop leader who enjoyed mentoring young people. He loved woodworking, problem-solving, and caring meticulously for his cars. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling, attending the Iola and Jefferson car shows, taking walks and attending concerts with Jayne, and spending time with family and friends.
Above all, Alan cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jayne; children, Michele (Tony) Rens, Hollie (John) Worden, and Todd Coles; grandchildren, Abigail Rens, Katherine (Jace) Dreyer, Matthew Rens, Amelia Worden, and Alyssa Worden; great-grandson, Malachi Dreyer; and brother, Steven (Brenda) Coles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Rosemary Coles; sister, Kathy Schmitt; parents-in-law; and brother-in-law.
Alan will be remembered for his devotion to family, his thoughtful and helpful nature, and the pride he took in everything he did. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
