Alfred Ernst Nagorny, age 90, of Rubicon, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the Watertown Regional Medical Center. Those who knew Al would agree that he lived life on his own terms right to the very end.
A visitation for Al will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Koepsell Funeral home in Mayville, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held following the visitation at the Rubicon Oasis, starting at 2:00 p.m. Food, drinks, and memories will be shared.
Al was born in Germany on November 30, 1935, the son of Fritz and Albertina (Scheske) Nagorny. He later immigrated to the United States, where he built a life centered on hard work, perseverance, and plenty of shenanigans. On October 26, 1974, he married Bonnie L. Sternberg in Iron Ridge, Wisconsin.
The couple resided in Mount Prospect, Illinois, where Al owned and operated Airborne Manufacturing beginning in 1968. The couple moved to Rubicon in 1988 where he later opened Contact Metals in 1991, continuing his craft as a skilled Model Maker. His sons, Alan and Jeremy, purchased the business in 2023 and continue its operations today.
Al is survived by his three sons, Tom (Alicia) Nagorny of Iron Ridge, Alan (Katie) Nagorny of West Bend, and Jeremy (Sarah) Nagorny of Oconomowoc; and his grandchildren, Leah, Ryan, Elizabeth, Carly, Alison, Dominic, and Violet.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; his son, Timothy; his brothers, Wilfred, Manfred, and Sigfred; and his grandson, Alexander.
