Alvin A. Vogel, 97, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on Friday January 12, 2024 at Meriter Hospital in Madison.
Alvin was born on October 7, 1926 the son of Carl and Gertrude (Seemann) Vogel in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a combat engineer with duty in France. On December 7, 1957, he was united in marriage with Rosemarrie Alice Gosse at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. They shared 57 years together before her passing in 2014.
Alvin had been employed as a forklift driver for MetalFab for 35 years. Later, he was employed in ground maintenance with Wisconsin Aviation in Juneau. He was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He was a Jack of All Trades and loved helping anyone he could. Alvin was kind, caring and very likeable. He enjoyed his cookies and cheese and playing Tic Tac Toe with family and friends. His favorite saying was “Don’t Worry About It”.
Alvin will be deeply missed by his daughters: Laura (John) Minnig and Heidi Harbaugh and her husband LTC. (R) Joel Harbaugh and his son Brent (Amanda) Vogel; grandchildren: Melissa (Adam) Emery, Derrick (Amanda) Minnig, Heather Kozar PhD and husband Michael Kozar PhD, Mitchell (Jessica) Minnig, Matthew (Sadye) Holbach, Kayley (Lauren) Ace, Jarrett (fiancée Rachel) Vogel and Grant Vogel; great grandchildren: Hunter, Noah, Elliott, Adalynn, Charlotte, Lennon, Kennedy and Lucas; great great grandson Sawyer. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rosemarrie, son Curtis “Tiny” Vogel; brothers: Lee Vogel and Carlos Vogel; and sisters: Virginia Winn and Gloria “Babe” Lockwood.
A visitation for Alvin will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. A funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Jim Wendt officiating. Private family interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in the town of Trenton, Wisconsin. Graveside Military Honors will be conducted by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146.
