Ardell Lavern Townsend

Ardell Lavern Townsend, age 83, of West Bend passed away peacefully on August 17, 2019 at New Perspective Senior Living in West Bend, with her family by her side.A funeral service to celebrate Ardell’s life will take place on Saturday, August 24th at 11:30 a.m. at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville with the Rev. Allen Behnke officiating. A visitation will take place on Saturday, August 24th from 10 a.m. to the time of the funeral service at 11:30 at the church in Mayville.Ardell was born the daughter of Herman and Frieda (Janke) Himstedt on December 4, 1935 in Fredonia, Wisconsin. She was a 1953 graduate of Port Washington High School. Ardell was united in marriage to Leland Townsend on May 1, 1954 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fredonia, Wisconsin. Ardell was previously employed as a laboratory worker for Fromm Laboratories, Inc. in Wisconsin and Rana Daycare in Tennessee, while after her retirement, she enjoyed spending more time with her family and church members. Ardell was a faithful member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville.Ardell is survived by her children, Kevin (Renee) Townsend and Beryl (Blaine) Tofte, her grandchildren, Stacy Townsend, Juliet Tofte, and Mark (Kaitlynn) Townsend, and great grandchildren, Grayson and Evalyn Townsend. Ardell is further survived by sisters Sylvia (Merlin) Gerner of West Bend and Verna Schallock of Cedarburg. Ardell also leaves behind nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 64 years Leland Townsend, brother Howard Himstedt, and sister Grace Scholz.The family wishes to thank the staff at New Perspective Senior Living, WellQor, and Seasons Hospice for the love, support and care that was provided to Ardell and her family.
