Visitation: Visitation for Arleen will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. the time of service at the St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau.
Arleen O. Schwantes, 81 years, of Neosho passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2008 at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral Service will be on Friday, November 14, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau with the Rev. Paul Schupmann officiating. Visitation for Arleen will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. the time of service at the church. Interment will be at Hustisford Cemetery.
Arleen Olga was born on May 23, 1927 the daughter of George C. and Ethel E. (Bohn) Laabs in the township of Hustisford. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Hustisford. On September 28, 1947, she was married to Merlin H. Schwantes at Bethany Lutheran Church in Hustisford.
She had been employed at Juneau and at Wagner in Hustisford until her retirement. She was a member of St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau and a member of the Ladies Aid. Arleen enjoyed crafts, bowling and traveling. A great joy for her was traveling with her sister to Annual Toys National Conventions held in Hawaii, Texas, Connecticut, Tennessee, Iowa and Wisconsin. She will be deeply missed by her family.
Arleen is survived by her two sons: Dwain M. Schwantes of Neosho and Allen G. (Susan) Schwantes of Beaver Dam; grandchildren: Jennifer (Fiance: Vincent Powell) Neumann of West Bend and Matthew (Megan) Schwantes of Beaver Dam; great granddaughter: Elizabeth Schwantes of Beaver Dam; sister, Eldine (Vern) Neumann of Beaver Dam; brother-in-law: Leslie (Nancy) Schwantes of Horicon and sister-in-law, Elaine (Robert) Schwanke of Oakfield. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Merlin in 1982 and two infant brothers.
