Visitation: Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 4th from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Beaver Dam and at the church on Thursday, March 5th from 10 – 11 a.m.
August Augie M. Scheurer, 70 years, of 225 Charlton Street, Beaver Dam
passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at his home after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish 127 W. Maple Ave., Beaver Dam with the Rev. Father John Schreiter as celebrant. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 4th from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Beaver Dam and at the church on Thursday, March 5th from 10 – 11 a.m. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam.
August was born on April 27, 1938 the son of August S. and Catherine E. (Schroda) Scheurer Sr. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was a 1957 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. On July 22, 1961, he was married to Linda L. Draheim at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam.
Augie was the owner of The Arctic Fisherman Company for 43 years until his retirement in 2004. He was an avid bowler. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, deer hunting and going to the casino. Most importantly, Augie was a hardworking, devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed. His three passions in life were his family, his business and his car.
Augie is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda L. Scheurer of Beaver Dam; his five children: Frederick J. Scheurer of Whitewater, Jolene M. (Gary) Hinze of Watertown, Daniel L. Scheurer of Beaver Dam, Janice L. Scheurer and her children: Kassandra and Samuel all of Beaver Dam; and Anne E. Scheurer and her children Andrew and Alexa all of Beaver Dam; his brother, Robert (Margaret) Scheurer of Wausau and his brother-in-law, Dean (Jean) Haas of Le Sueur, MN. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Catherine and his mother and father-in-law, Dorothy and George Stancheski.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Dodge County Humane Society or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
