Barbara Verna Mallon

Barbara V. Mallon, age 91, a life-long resident of Beaver Dam, died Friday, October 12, 2007 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Friends and family may call at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 511 South Spring Street in Beaver Dam, on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Tuesday, beginning at 11:00 AM. Fr. Carlos Florez will officiate. Burial will be at St. Peter”s Cemetery in the Town of Beaver Dam.

The former Barbara Verna Maleck was born on January 10, 1916 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Frank and Dora (Schoenberger) Maleck. On June 5, 1934, she was united in marriage with Alton Mallon in Beaver Dam. Barbara worked at Weyenberg Shoe Company in Beaver Dam for 25 years before retiring in 1978. She loved camping, bowling and playing cards and she was a long-time member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, formerly St. Peter”s Catholic Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara (Don) Chastain of Coal Valley, Illinois, her brother, Michael Maleck of Beaver Dam, 19 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, a son-in-law, Jerry Desjarlais of Horicon, two daughters-in-law, Marleen Mallon of Jackson and Roseann Mallon of Reeseville, other relatives and friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three children, Dorothy Desjarlais, Alvin Mallon and Robert Mallon, a son-in-law, Michael Van Hierden, two grandchildren, Cheyanne Van Hierden and Shaun Schneider, and a sister-in-law, Charlotte “Doll” Mallon.
