Bertha “Betsy” Mae Dobbratz (Nehls), age 84, formerly of Juneau, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
A Funeral Service for Bertha will take place on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau with Rev. Nicholas Mount officiating. A visitation for Bertha will be held at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. Inurnment will be held at the Juneau City Cemetery on a later date.
Bertha was born on May 17, 1942, in Hustisford, Wisconsin to Edwin Sr. and Bernadina (Smith) Nehls. She graduated from Hustisford High School.
Bertha met the love of her life, Edgar Dobbratz Jr, in Watertown. They were married on September 24, 1960. Bertha devoted her life to her family.
Bertha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her greatest joy was her family. Bertha was known for her smile, generosity, kindness, patience, and outpouring of love.
She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau, Wisconsin.
Bertha enjoyed her flowers. She spent many hours with her husband canning vegetables. Bertha enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all the children she cared for.
Bertha opened her home and heart for many families with children. She made an impact on these families until she passed away. Bertha was known for her homemade Christmas cookies, which the children she cared for looked forward to every year. Bertha loved life and people.
Bertha is survived by her children: Lori Dobbratz of Lowell, Wisconsin, Jeff (Wendy) Dobbratz of Plover, Wisconsin, Dale (Sandy) Dobbratz of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and Brenda (Darin) Reed of Waukesha, Wisconsin; her grandchildren: Jacob (Sarah) Lappen, Ashley (Ryan Pozarski) Dobbratz, Brianna (Tim Yoder) Dobbratz, Andrea (Nate Volm) Dobbratz, and Katie Fausett; her step grandchildren: Eli, Ethan, Crystal, Kayla, and Morgan; her great grandchildren: Mazie, Wren, Thea, Rubi, and Otis; her step great grandchildren Eli and Gage; and her sisters-in-law Joyce Rassmussen, Joyce Smith, and Carol Indermuehle. Bertha leaves behind countless nieces, nephews and friends who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
Bertha was preceded in death by her loving husband Edgar Dobbratz Jr; her parents Edwin and Bernadina Nehls; her father and mother-in-law Edgar Sr and Ruth Dobbratz; her siblings: Edwin Nehls, Donald Nehls, Florence Wickert, Anita Prokop, and Audrey Naparalla. As well other brother and sisters-in-law.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Agrace Hospice team and RN Crystal for the care and compassion they showed to Bertha.
