Services: Funeral services on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Peters Ev. Lutheran Church in Theresa, Wisconsin.
Visitation: Visitation will take place on on Saturday, April 4, 2009 from 12 until the time of the service at 2:30 at the church.
Carl S. Bernhard, 85, 1393 Dayton St., Mayville, and formerly of Theresa, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
Services for Carl will be on Saturday, April 4 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Theresa at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Steven Bode will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Mayville.
Visitation is also on Saturday, April 4 at St. Peter Church, Theresa from noon until 2:30 time of service.
Carl was born on March 13, 1924 in Theresa, the son of Charles and Anna (Adelmeyer) Bernhard. On July 31, 1943, he was united in marriage to Gladys H. Werner, at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon.
He was employed by Baker Canning Co., Serwe Implement and retired from Dairyland Implement. He was a member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, Theresa; served on the church council; a charter member of the Theresa Lions Club, where he served as Zone Chairman and Deputy District Governor; a member of the town board of Theresa; Dodge County Supervisors; chairman of the Dodge County Housing Authority; charter member of the Pioneer Snowmobile Club; active member of the Theresa Historical Society. Carl enjoyed watching and feeding the birds and working in his flower and vegetable gardens. He enjoyed spending time in Northern Wisconsin and going for rides in his car; Carl loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Robert (Carol) Bernhard, Theresa; Ronald (Karen) Bernhard, Lomira; Karen Schwenk, Milwaukee; Sarah Bernhard, West Bend; Charles (Marlene) Bernhard, Theresa; special friend, Marie Jones, Fond du Lac; a brother-in-law; Doug Carselle, St. Paul, Minn.; a niece, Bonnie (Bob) Sherly of Illinois; special friend of the family, Ann Fuerbringer, West Bend, Victor Lucas, Theresa; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2006; one sister, Mildred; one brother, Clarence; a son-in-law, Ronald; one granddaughter, Angela.
