Carol Ann M. Schabel, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Carol will take place on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy with Rev. Fr Tom Biersack presiding. A visitation for Carol will be held at church on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow the ceremony at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in LeRoy.
Carol was born on December 19, 1944 to Leo J. and Lucille G. (Wild) Schraufnagel Sr. at her home in LeRoy. She was a graduate of Mayville High School. Carol was united in marriage to Richard Schabel on April 24, 1965 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy.
Carol was a very active and faithful member at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. Carol was a Jill of all trades. She was always there for her church, family, and friends. If something needed to be done, she was always there to help out. Carol loved to help others clean and organize their homes. Carol and Richard were world travelers. Together they visited all 50 states, Canada, and Mexico. Carol enjoyed baking, canning, and walking.
Carol is survived by her loving husband Richard; siblings: Norman (Sharon) Schraufnagel of West Palm Beach, FL, Leo B. (Roseann) Schraufnagel of LeRoy, Robert M. (Linda) Schraufnagel of LeRoy; sister-in-law: Karen (William) Schabel-Jermy of Mayville. Carol is further survived by her dear friend Violet Schultz of West Bend, as well as beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Lloyd (Lucille) Schabel.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Hospice Home of Hope as well as the staff at the second floor at Waupun Hospital. You all not only took wonderful care of Carol but also her family. Your care, compassion, and kindness will not be forgotten.
Memorials in Carol’s memory may be directed to St. Andrew’s Restoration Fund.
