Carol Benisch, age 77, of Columbus, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, August 31, 2026.
Carol was born on November 3, 1948, in Columbus, Wisconsin, to Paul and Gertrude (Mueller) Benisch. She was raised on a farm in rural Sun Prairie and remained fond of her childhood years there. Carol worked for Verizon for 30 years before retiring. Above all, she was a devoted mother, and raising her son, Craige, was the most important role in her life. His passing last year brought her profound heartbreak. Carol enjoyed baking, creating diamond art, tending to her flower beds, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her special nieces, Kristie (Gabe) Gallegos of Columbus and Kim (Dennis) Egner of McFarland; great-nieces, Samantha (Dilynn) Dulgar and Amanda (Benjamin) Vandervort; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son, Craige Benisch; her siblings, Vernon Benisch, Paul Benisch, and Marge Benisch; and her cherished dogs, Molly and Haylee.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at a later date.
