Carolyn Norma Thompson, of rural Mayville, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the age of 79.
A funeral service for Carolyn will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church (River Church) in Mayville with Rev. Douglas Zahner officiating. Visitation for Carolyn will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville and again on Tuesday, November 7 at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Carolyn was born to Reinhard and Norma (Christian) Grulke in 1944. She graduated from Mayville High School in 1962. Carolyn married Peter Thompson in 1970. She worked in several area factories including West Bend Company and Beatrice Cheese.
Carolyn was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran (River) Church, Mayville. She was a faithful member of Immanuel’s church choir, quilting group, Rangerette Leader, and Ladies Aid group (including several terms as an officer). She enjoyed annual family vacations camping all over the United States, as well as annual “snowbird” visits to her daughter in Florida.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Peter Thompson; daughter Lorrie (Mark) Johnson; daughter Peggy (Rick) Pride; daughter Robin (Dan) Kramer; daughter Heidi (Kirk) Stalnaker; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Eugene (Cheryl) Grulke; brother Rich (Terri) Grulke; sisters-in-law Judy Maksymo, Sandy Grulke, Nancy Grulke; brothers-in-law Garold (Susie) Bartel, Paul (Sharon) Thompson; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Reinhard and Norma Grulke; sister, Phyllis Bartel; brother, Steven Grulke; brother Fritz Grulke; brothers-in-law Stanley Thompson and Pete Maksymo; and son, Terry Thompson.
