I MET DICK IN 2000 WHEN I JOINED THE ARCHERY CLUB, HE ALWAYS LIKED ME AND I LIKED HIM, HE WAS TRUELY A LEADER AT THE CLUB AND HAD EVERYONES RESPECT. HE WAS AN ICON.
I BUILT DICK'S ACHERY SHOP AND GOT A CHANCE TO KNOW HIM, HE TOLD ME MANY INTERESTING STORIES FROM THE DAY. HE SHOWED ME HIS KNIFE COLLECTION, IT WAS AMAZING.
DICK CALLED ME SEVERAL TIMES WHEN I GOT CANCER AND ASKED HOW I WAS DOING, AND THAT MEANT ALOT TO ME.
I KNOW DICK WAS HURTING WHEN HE LOST HIS DAUGHTER, AND I FELT FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY.
THE LAST TIME I ORDERED A DOZEN ARROWS FROM DICK I WENT TO PICK THEM UP AND HE ONLY HAD 6, SO I ASKED HIM HOW COME HE DIDN'T MAKE 12 AND HE SAID, YOU DON'T NEED TO SPEND YOUR MONEY ON 12 WHEN YOU ONLY NEED SIX. SO I LAUGHED, SAID 'OK THEN', WE HAD A BEER TOGETHER, AND I LEFT.
MY CONDOLENCE'S TO HIS FAMILY
I WILL MISS DICK'S BIG LAUGH AND HIS MANY STORIES.

The Dash Poem
by Linda Ellis

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on his tombstone
From the beginning to the end

He noted that first came the date of his birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered the most of all
Was the dash between those years

For the dash represents all the time
That he spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved him
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is h
