Catherine G. Keller was born on May 29, 1935 in the Mount Horeb area to the late William J. and Ella C (nee: Paltz) Keller. She grew up on a farm and graduated from Mount Horeb High School. On October 30, 1954, Katie was united in marriage with Kenneth Cook in Pine Bluff. Together they farmed briefly in that area before they bought the farm land and house by Reeseville where she lived for over 50 years. Katie enjoyed being a mother to a large family and living in the country. They had chickens and ducks, a few steers, farm cats and always a big garden. Ken preceded Katie in death in 1992. She was very active in her church, sang in the choir, was a 4-H leader for years and had great times with her bowling team. The bowling team became an extended family and enjoyed many fun activities like hayrides and picnics. She was a very good seamstress and worked at a bridal shop in Beaver Dam along with doing alterations at her home for many people. Sewing was something she passed on to her children and grandchildren and everyone in the family has homemade items that brings back memories. She also enjoyed traveling with her sister, the Red Hat Ladies and the Cemetery Club. Family was important to Katie and she was always surrounded by them.
