Cecelia (Thompson) Sturm, age 97, of Beaver Dam, died Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Hillside Manor.
Cecelia was born in Blythe, California on November 3, 1925 to Robert O. Thompson and Bertha (Urban) Thompson. She grew up in Waukegan, Illinois where she graduated from high school. After graduation, she worked for several years as an administrative assistant for Abbott Laboratories. On May 26, 1951, Cecelia married Dr. Arthur W. Sturm and she moved to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin Cecelia managed her husband’s dental practice in Beaver Dam for many years and was a long-time member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish.
She made many beautiful art quilts over the years and was a fine seamstress and tailor. She created hospital tray favors while a member of the St. Patrick’s parish committee and worked with the St. Patrick’s Ladies Bazaar making many interesting craft items. Cecelia loved music and was an accomplished pianist who mentored her children in their musical pursuits.
Survivors include her three sons: Robert Sturm of Beaver Dam, William (Lorraine Zoesch) Sturm of Oshkosh, Paul (Mary Henderson) Sturm of Beaver Dam,and Son-in-law, Jeffrey (Kathy) Meyer of Beaver Dam. Grandchildren: Alison (Chris) Nickerson, Brookfield, Matthew Meyer, and great grandchildren Jude, Ila and Lilith Meyer of New London,
Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Beverly (William) Mateja, a daughter, Claudia Meyer, and husband Dr. Arthur Sturm.
Special thanks to Fr. Will Arnold, the caring staff at Remembrance Home, Hillside Manor and Marshfield Medical Center, kept her comfortable in her final days.
A private family service will be held with internment at St. Peter Cemetery, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
